Updated Web Design Project - Redesign

My Client : California Fitness
About

California Fitness, part of 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, is acknowledged as the leader in the fitness industry in Asia. Our first club opened in Hong Kong in July 1996 and pioneered the mega gym concept in the region. This club was such a huge success that we embarked on further expansion within Hong Kong and into Asia including Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia and mainland China.

In 2005 we joined forces with international superstar and fitness devotee Jackie Chan, to create a signature club in Hong Kong – the California Fitness Jackie Chan Sport Club. Currently, we have six Jackie Chan Sport Clubs around Asia. Then in August 2007, we teamed up with another international athlete and basketball legend, Yao Ming, in our first endeavor in mainland China - the Yao Ming Sport Club in Beijing, which was closely followed by a Shanghai club later that year.

Our expansion in Asia continues to grow and we aim to open 100 clubs by 2016 so we can keep on helping more and more people to live better through fitness.



Executive Summary

California Fitness is to help us to get a better lives and healthy. Nowadays, it's part of a lifestyle to some people. Current website, is giving lots of information but it had a boring layout and just bunch of text. It is useful for members to view the schedule for their group exercise. What i would think of is to give the feel of the environment... Showing to our target audience how it looks like and they want to get there and have their live better and healthier. I would give the user to have a chance to experience the environment in the fitness center. Information should not be divided into so many section. Some are not necessary. The promotion item in a website would help my client to get online user to join. Nowadays, college student uses internet frequently, so design a feel that fitness is also part of their life. This is to gain more people checking out in california fitness.

Client Website Analysis

  • Home page - there's already a "what's new" and should not repeat in the button. not neseccarry
  • Club - should be information about the club but it give addreses..
  • Membership - just information
  • Group Exercise - giving information about the excercise and the level ( too much information , can use visual to tell)
  • Personal Training - giving information about the different type of personal training they have
  • Member Zone - is a pop up.. not necessary ... and it give introduction, schedule to members, and faq for members. (if it is a member zone, should make sure is just for member)
  • What's new - can put on the home page


Positive
  • uses warmth colour to show their lifestyle and consistent from the logo colour
  • a lot of information
  • consistency of their font , colour and size
  • hierachy is good
  • timetable schedule is good for member to view
Negative
  • too much table and box
  • information divide into too many section
  • what's new double put
  • too many pop-up
  • contact us become feedback page (irrelevant)
  • club location is also in wrong category
What have to improve?
  • Make the website feel more energetic that's what california is telling about
  • Make it a place that teenager will go frequently
  • Some information can use picture or icon to tell the target audience
  • Should insert an online registration and promotion
  • If user want further detail contact number should be given clearly not email.

Website Objective Analysis

Target Audience
People that want to have a healthier life and a better lifestyle :
  • college student
They are the people who wants to got for fitness because of the lifestyle and the promotional voucher. They like the availabilty there such as internet, resting area, it's fun to exercise with a group of friend.
  • senior executive
They are more caution about the health because their age getting older and ppl do like promotion item. Senior executive are busy so internet online registration is a friendly way to approach them. They are the people who use computer much.
